About the Role
Super.com is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform to join its Data Engineering team. Data is at the core of Super.com's decision-making process, and this team plays a critical role in enabling the organization to scale while managing petabytes of data efficiently and reliably.
The team utilizes modern data technologies including Snowflake, dbt, Kafka, and Amplitude to support advanced analytics, experimentation, and business intelligence initiatives. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for solving complex technical challenges, building scalable data infrastructure, and ensuring the stability and performance of the company’s data ecosystem.
This role operates within the SWAT (Software Adaptability Team), a specialized group focused on addressing the organization's highest-priority technical and business needs. Projects typically range from 6 to 26 weeks and require rapid problem-solving, stakeholder alignment, and the delivery of high-impact data solutions. Success in this position requires balancing speed, quality, scalability, and business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, recommend, and implement scalable data architecture solutions that support business growth.
- Build reliable and maintainable data platform components and infrastructure.
- Improve engineering standards related to code quality, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Conduct peer reviews and contribute to technical documentation and best practices.
- Collaborate with Analytics, Business Intelligence, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to understand data requirements and deliver actionable solutions.
- Develop data processes and systems that support informed business decision-making.
- Promote and enforce data governance standards across engineering workflows.
- Enhance and scale the organization's data platform to support increasing data volumes and business complexity.
- Identify technical bottlenecks and implement solutions that improve platform efficiency and reliability.
- Quickly adapt to new projects and technologies while delivering measurable business impact.
- Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to long-term platform strategy.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced hands-on experience with Python and SQL.
- Strong experience designing and implementing large-scale data engineering solutions.
- Deep understanding of database architecture, data warehousing, and data modeling principles.
- Experience building and maintaining distributed systems and scalable data platforms.
- Proven ability to take ownership of critical projects and deliver results in fast-paced environments.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating across multiple business functions and engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with predictive analytics and machine learning technologies.
- Familiarity with modern data platforms and tools such as Snowflake, dbt, Kafka, and Amplitude.
- Experience supporting large-scale analytics and experimentation platforms.
- Background working in high-growth technology companies.
- Knowledge of cloud-based data infrastructure and data governance frameworks.
